As early as 2002, the Gregor Mendel Foundation set itself the goal of drawing attention to the social importance of plant research and plant breeding by awarding the Gregor Mendel Innovation Prize for outstanding findings in the field of plant sciences. In 2022, the foundation will pay special attention to the namesake. The highlight will be the ceremony in November in Berlin.
